When it comes to disposing of paperwork, you may think that ripping up paperwork is enough. Or using your shredder is secure.  But with data theft, fraud and even GDPR fines being reprocussions of non-secure paper disposal, it is important to get it right.

Shredding Security Level P2

Paper Cut Size:

Did you know there are different levels of paper shredding?  Ranging from P2 through to P7, with a P2 cut size being bigger pieces of paper and not very secure to P7 being very tiny pieces of paper and very secure. You can see the photo on the left has been shredded on a strip-cut shredder, this is a low P cut size and is not sucure as people could piece it back together. The image on the right is a better security level shredder as it is cross cut (paper is shredded horizontally and vertically) to make a P5 cut level. This is a better size to shred your confidential documents to as it is much harder for someone to piece it back together which is an advantage of secure shredding! (We have a paper cut size guide under our ‘shredders’ menu).

Customers details, family details, personal details, business information is all confidential:

If you are disposing of paperwork that relates to any of the above or is confidential for other reasons, you should use the appropriate shredder. What may happen if those documents were found by the wrong person? For the time it would take to shred some paperwork on a secure cut level shredder it will give you peace of mind that your paperwork won’t end up in the wrong hands.

Efficient:

By using a HSM shredder, Ideal shredder or Intimus shredder the process of shredding your documents on an appropriately secure shredder is easy! It won’t take long, they don’t overheat and are reliable machines which makes shredding your confidential paperwork easy!

Don’t forget harddrives, mobiles, memory sticks, floppy disks and IPads:

If you don’t want to purchase, then make sure you use a company to securely dispose of these items as they may also contain a lot of important informtaion that needs disposing of appropriately.
